How to Save Up to 30% Off a Ponant Luxury Cruise

In our article on the pros and cons of last minute cruise specials we explained that waiting for a last minute special can have its advantages (such as securing a sharp price), but waiting can mean missing out on a particular departure all together or being left with the less desirable cabins and suites. 

One cruise line that has an approach to special offers that we really like is Ponant. Rather than running ad hoc campaigns to try and fill a ship, and potentially frustrating guests who have already booked, Ponant has a standard scaled discount policy.

How Ponant’s Discount Policy Works

Ponant’s discount policy rewards guests who commit and pay a deposit early. Starting at 30% when a voyage opens for sale, the discounts gradually decrease as cabins / suites are sold (i.e. the price increases).  As the ship fills the discounts decrease in 5% increments until the entire ship is sold out (refer to the diagram above).

Although Ponant doesn't disclose how many cabins / suites need to be sold before the discount changes, they will disclose the current discount level. and endeavours to let clients know where they stand. 

Single Supplement Discounts

In addition to this overarching discount program, Ponant will also run specials with discounted Single Supplements (a single supplement is effectively the surcharge a single guest pays for a suite that is usually priced based on two people travelling together - i.e. a twin share basis).  These discounted Single Supplements make it more appealing and less expensive for single travellers to join a Ponant cruise.
