The South Pacific

Fiji

Barefoot luxury, just over three hours from home.

From an overwater bure on a private island to a rainforest retreat in Savusavu, Fiji is the South Pacific’s most effortless escape for New Zealanders. We curate the resort, choreograph the island transfers, and arrange the tours — so all you have to do is arrive.

Good to know

It’s a short hop. Fiji is around three to three-and-a-half hours’ direct flight from Auckland — short-haul, and on the same time zone as New Zealand (one hour behind during NZ daylight saving).

When to go. May to October is the dry season — lower humidity, clear water and the perfect window to escape the New Zealand winter. November to April is the green season: warmer, with welcome afternoon showers.

The Fine Travel Difference

We handle the whole journey, not just the booking

01

The right resort, matched to you

Adults-only seclusion, a family-friendly beachfront, or a private island all to yourselves — we know these resorts and can help you find the one that fits.

02

Every transfer and island hop

Launch, catamaran, light plane or helicopter — reaching the outer islands takes the right connections in the right order. We arrange the lot, with a warm Fijian welcome waiting at every step.

03

Tours, car hire and experiences

A Sigatoka River safari, a day on a floating bar off the Mamanucas, a self-drive along the Coral Coast — we’ll build the experiences around your stay, or leave the days open if you’d rather just unwind.

Prefer us to look at your flights too? Of course — just say the word. With Fiji so close to home, some travellers have that part well in hand, so we put our energy where it counts.

Good Questions

Planning a Fiji holiday from New Zealand

When is the best time to visit Fiji from New Zealand?

May to October is Fiji’s dry season — lower humidity, clear water and excellent diving and snorkelling visibility, and the ideal window to escape the New Zealand winter. November to April is the green season: warmer and more humid, with welcome afternoon showers. Fiji is on the same time zone as New Zealand, slipping one hour behind during NZ daylight saving.

How long is the flight from New Zealand to Fiji?

Around three hours direct from Auckland to Nadi, and roughly three and a half from Wellington or Christchurch. The time difference is an hour at most, so there’s no jet lag to plan around — you can leave home in the morning and be at your resort by mid-afternoon.

Do I need to book my flights through Fine Travel?

Not at all. With Fiji such a short hop from home, many of our clients use their own Airpoints or a direct fare — though it’s worth a glance at our current offers first, as some include return flights in one all-in price. We focus on the part that takes real local knowledge — the resort, the island transfers and the experiences — and we’re happy to look at flights as well if you’d like us to.

Which Fiji resorts are adults-only?

Several of Fiji’s most romantic resorts welcome couples only — including Royal Davui in Beqa Lagoon, Likuliku Lagoon and Tokoriki in the Mamanucas, and Lomani, Matamanoa and Tambua Sands. They’re ideal for honeymoons, anniversaries and a grown-up escape. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll match you to the right one.

Which Fiji resorts are best for families?

Fiji is wonderfully family-friendly. Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort in Savusavu is a standout, with nannies and a marine sanctuary, while the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, Plantation Island and the Denarau resorts all offer kids’ clubs, pools and plenty to keep every age entertained.

How do I know I’m getting the best price?

Fiji resort pricing moves constantly, and the same resort can be priced differently across wholesalers, booking websites and the property’s own site — often for genuinely different products, with different rooms, inclusions and cancellation terms behind the numbers. As a full-service agency we have access to wholesale package rates alongside the published ones, and when you enquire we’ll price your actual dates and talk you through what each option includes, so you can compare like with like. If you’ve seen a price elsewhere, we’re always happy to take a look at it with you.

What does a Fine Travel Fiji package include?

We build the whole land journey around you — your chosen resort, all return airport, launch and island transfers, and any car hire, tours or experiences you’d like along the way. We can arrange just the resort if you’ve got the rest in hand, or look at your flights too. Whatever the shape of it, you deal with one team from first enquiry to coming home.
