Air New Zealand announced today that in the second half of 2019 it will start trialing a non-stop service between Invercargill and Auckland.
For regional travellers in the South Island looking to connect with Air New Zealand’s international network the trial of a non-stop service between Invercargill and Auckland will be welcome news. The new 2 hour flight will be Air New Zealand’s longest domestic flight and a significant timesaver for travellers who might otherwise have been transiting via Christchurch or Wellington (or driving to Queenstown).
The trial service will operate five days a week, departing Invercargill at 6.00am and arriving in Auckland at 7:55am. The Auckland-Invercargill service will depart at 7:35pm. The expected schedule will therefore be:
Flight Number | Departs | Arrives | Days of week |
NZ698 | Invercargill 6.00am | Auckland 7:55am | Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri/Sat |
NZ699 | Auckland 7:35pm | Invercargill 9:35pm | Mon/Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sun |
