Wildlife journey. This itinerary can be tailor-made, with the number of days and activities varied to suit you, and additional travel arrangements before and after your stay.
Who this suits

Good to know
Meals and house drinks are included; premium drinks, gratuities and the night before in Kigali are not — Day 1 leaves early for a five- to six-hour drive to the park. Transfers between Kigali and the park gate are private, with an English-speaking driver-guide; from the gate to camp they are shared. Cross-season pricing and a Kigali city tour on Day 4 are on enquiry.
The journey
Day by day
Day 1 — Kigali › Akagera National Park
Depart early morning from Kigali and transfer to Akagera National Park, a scenic 5-6 hour drive. Stay at your choice of luxury camp, situated in the only exclusive-use area of Akagera. During your stay you will enjoy exploring this phenomenally diverse north-eastern corner of the park, and encountering the wildlife it is home to with expert guides. Warm hospitality, delicious cuisine and awe-inspiring starry night skies complete the picture.
Days 2 & 3 — Akagera National Park
A guided sunrise boat cruise on Akagera National Park’s Lake Ihema offers a peaceful and magical start to your first day. As the early mist lifts, the water is calm and reflective, providing a perfect setting to observe wildlife. Watch hippos emerge from the water to bask in the gentle morning sun, while crocodiles lounge along the shore. The call of the African fish eagle echoes across the lake, and a variety of birds take flight, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere.
You have the rest of the first day, and another full day, to take full advantage of the wonderful experiences included in your stay. Whether you’re looking for the adventure of game drives, nature walks or complete relaxation, your Host and Ranger will be delighted to help you plan the perfect day tailored to your interests.
Day 4 — Akagera National Park › Kigali
This morning after breakfast depart and transfer back to Kigali.
