About this journey
Be among just 24 guests at this romantic, private hideaway, where ten beachside bandas overlook the Mnemba atoll. Activities include snorkelling, swimming, kayaking, and massages on the beach, or just do nothing at all! Mnemba has something for everyone.
andBeyond Mnemba Island is reached by a 90-minute drive from Stone Town through the lush spice plantations that cover main Zanzibar Island. Guests wade knee-deep in the balmy ocean waters to board a waiting boat for a 20-minute crossing to a warm island reception.
Highlights & Activities
Thatched dining and sitting or bar areas boast beautiful open views of the beach and spectacular vistas of Zanzibar beyond. Baskets of fresh fruit, fish, lobsters, crabs and prawns sail into Mnemba daily on traditional ngalawa outriggers. Lunch is often served on large wooden carved Zanzibari platters heaped with delicious mezze. Romantic candlelit dinners are served on the beach, with the waves lapping gently at guests’ feet. Private beach picnics delight newlyweds and not-so-newlyweds alike.
Underwater enthusiasts can take advantage of the island’s PADI dive school, which offers incredible snorkelling and various scuba diving excursions.

The price applies only as an extension to an andBeyond lodge in Kenya or Tanzania, and includes one flight between Arusha, Manyara or Nairobi and Zanzibar. Diving instruction isn't included for adults without full PADI certification, or for children 11 and under. The island closes from 8 April to 20 May; children's, long-stay and Family Banda pricing is on enquiry.

Day by day
Day 1 — Zanzibar › Mnemba Island
From Stone Town, travel through Zanzibar’s lush spice plantations to board a boat for a 20-minute crossing to beautiful Mnemba Island.
Days 2 & 3 — Mnemba Island
Take advantage of the range of activities that Mnemba has to offer, from the PADI dive school to swimming, snorkelling, beautiful beach walks, private beach dinners, in-room massage, private yoga sessions, dhow cruises and more. A variety of wildlife can be spotted on the island, including Suni antelope, Ader’s duiker, seasonal turtle hatchlings, dolphins and rare coconut crabs.
Day 4 — Mnemba Island › Zanzibar
Transfer back to Zanzibar, where arrangements conclude.
